Leaders Forward Planning Meeting

Cub, Beaver and Scout leaders are meeting for a forward planning meeting this Thursday evening. All camps and special activities from January on will be discussed and a schedule should be available to parents/guardians on this site very soon. Operation Snowball


Operation Snowball for Cubs and Beavers is set for Jan 30th at Yoho Scout Reserve. We bring our sleds and lots of fun games are available. It is from 1-4pm at the main lodge. Each group sets up a game and we go in a round robin to play each one. Then some fun sledding and finally Hot Chocolate and a snack is provided. We went last year and had a blast!!! So circle your calendar for this fun event.

Christmas Party!!

The Scouts, Cubs and Beavers Christmas Party will be the 15th of December at 6:30pm. We will have a short movie in the sanctuary then give out all our Popcorn prizes. After we will have a fun game for Beavers a yankee swap for Cubs and a Scout activity. All should be wrapped up at 8pm then we will be off for Christmas break until the 5th of January.

Great Float!!



What a great time we had at the Christmas Parade. We have had lots of positive feedback about our float. Many people have commented about our canoe and also our "smoky" fire. Many thanks to all those who helped with the setup and tear down of the float. A special thank you to Bob's Towing for supplying the tractor and trailer!! And last but not least to our Parade Committee for the planning and direction on decorating and setup, Jeff Stewart, Jen Munn -Moulton and Mike Conrad.

Christmas Parade

All the parts for our float are coming together and after speaking to the organizers its a go even if we have showers....there will be lots of fun things to do on our float. The Cub Kar track will be on board and also a canoe as well a smoke machine for our simulated campfire.....if you park at the school I will have the bus to bring us all back from Brookside mall at parade end.

Christmas Parade

We will be entering a float in the Christmas parade this year. All parents and Cubs, Scouts and Beavers are welcome to ride along with us on Saturday the 28th of November. We will meet at Nashwaaksis Middle School off of Fulton at 4:15pm. The parade rolls out at 5pm so we will need to be on and seated with all children aware of the safety rules. Please plan to attend as we have a huge float donated to us by Bob's Towing of Marysville...approx 53ft long!!! The decorating committee is starting to assemble the float at 9am on Saturday at the church so if you would like to help as well.

Our new Kitchen Trailer




We have a new kitchen trailer donated to us from the Rotary club. We will use it for our outdoor camps and also to rent to other groups to raise funds. If you are interested in using it please contact Cameron Dunn 459-7960.

1st Marysville Annual Wreath sale

On Saturday the 21st of November we will meet at the church to sell wreaths door to door. This usually only takes a couple of hours in the morning. We meet at the church for 9am and then go around the Marysville and Richibucto road areas to sell them or your Neighbourhood. You can also pick some up for family as well.

Remembrance Day Parade and Cub Sleepover

We are encouraging all Cubs, Beavers and Scouts to attend the Parade of Remembrance at the Marysville Cenotaph. We will gather at the Legion on Veterans Ct at 10 am. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Also Cubs don't forget your sleepover on Tuesday night in the gym. The tents and trees are up the fire is ready and an exciting night is planned!!! Starting with the Shriners Show.....please plan to attend.

Remembrance Day Parade

All Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are asked to attend the Marysville Remembrance Day Parade. We will meet at the Marysville Legion on Veterans Ct. at 10am on the 11th of November. We march down to the Cenotaph and participate in the service. After we go across the bridge to the Heritage center for treat bags. Usually we are done around 12 or so. Parents are invited to watch the parade and then join us at the center.

Cub Sleepover Info

We are so excited that the Shriners are giving us a chance to attend the Luxor Shriner Christmas show. We meet at the church at 6:30pm SHARP. Ringtail will be driving the bus for us. The address if you miss the bus is 751 Priestman st, the Communitiare St Anne. Afterwards we will return to the church and be sleeping in tents in the gym. We should return around 9-9:30pm. Parents are welcome to attend at that time if they are staying overnight with their child or picking them up. Please refer to the letter that was sent home for the kit list for the overnight. Remember that the next day its breakfast at Tim Horton's and then on to the Remembrance Day parade. Parents are encouraged to attend the parade and see your Cub march. After the parade we will go to the Heritage center for a snack and then children will be available for pick-up. Extra tickets are available for parents of some of the Cubs to attend.

Intensive Leader Training This Weekend!!

Congratulations to all the Leaders that completed their WoodBadge 1 Training. Drew, Troy, Jim, Steve and Dawn!!!
This is an intensive course involving many hours of personal commitment. It included Gilwell 1 a full evening of core sessions for Scouters. As well they all did a full day from 8am until 6pm of classes and activities this past weekend. These classes and courses help them gain a better understanding of the programs used in Scouting and also leadership principles in Cubs and Beavers. Thank you ALL for your time and commitment. Lets see those Gilwell woggles!!!

Yoho Scout Lodge Address

The physical address of the Yoho Scout Camp is 3566 Hanwell rd, route 640. The phone number is 366-3312.
If you wish to follow the Bus it leaves at 5:20 pm sharp from the church....however it is not the fastest thing on four wheels. I will be out at the lodge all morning to set up and will leave the gate open, I should be there to open the door at 6pm with the bus.

Popcorn sales Pop new Record!!!

We have blown the record for sales in the last few years out of the water. Congratulations to all of you!! $9700.00. We have a top Cub with $840 in sales and our top Beaver had $590. We receive %60 of this back for programs!!! Once again thanks for the great work Cubs, Beavers and Scouts!! And thank you to all the parents who braved the elements to go door to door with the kids.

Yoho Scout Reserve Sleepover


We have an exciting weekend coming up......Overnight at Yoho!! Camp starts at 6pm Friday and goes until 3pm on Saturday. Hikes, Campfires and Crafts as well as good food.

I have a small bus with limited space going from the Church. If you or your Child needs a ride the bus leaves at 5:20pm sharp.

The weather looks great for the weekend. It will be chilly outside so please send appropriate clothing. Looking forward to a fun Camp-out,

Popcorn Forms

In order for Cubs, Beavers or Scouts to be eligible to receive their prizes all Popcorn forms must be in by Tuesday the 13th of October. Have your child fill in the prize requested for the level they have sold on the side of the form. We will be placing the order on the 15th. If you can't have your form to us on that night please call or email Ringtail for pick-up or drop it in my mailbox at 141 Mason ave. We don't want anyone to be disappointed.

Cub Investiture

The Cub investiture will be next Tuesday at 6:30pm. All parents are welcome to attend as this is a big moment for the Tenderpads. After the investiture they become full fledged Cubs. The investiture will be in the gym.

Beaver Colony Investiture

On Tuesday night at our next meeting we will be investing our new Kits and one leader. Parents are invited to stay and watch as we do our opening in the gym and then proceed to invest our new kits at the colony flag. They will repeat the Law, Promise and Motto after the leader and then parents will put on the newly minted Beavers neckers. This is a big moment for them as they become one of the colony. Also we will be giving out their lodge badges. Refreshments to follow.

Receipts for tax purposes

As registrar I will be issuing tax receipts in the coming weeks. These receipts are eligible for the child fitness tax credit.

The children's fitness tax credit lets parents claim up to $500 per year for eligible fitness expenses paid for each child who is under 16 years of age at the beginning of the year in which the expenses are paid.

Beavers Tuesday night

We will be choosing our lodges and also giving out tails to our Beavers and Kits. Remember to plan to attend the upcoming sleepover on the 17th of October at Yoho.

Cub Meeting Tuesday

The Cubs will be forming their sixers on Tuesday night. They will be discussing routines and expectations during the year. Also the Akela is planning on teaching some basic juggling skills to the boys.

Popcorn Sale

The Popcorn sale is on!! Remember to set a goal for your child and help them reach it. The prize chart is a good way to help them set that goal. Sell to Family first then co-workers and friends/neighbours and remember to always wear your uniform. The dates for popcorn sales are Sept 22 until the 15th of October. All paperwork and any money must be in by the 23 of October as we input that day to qualify for prizes. This is one of the ways we raise money for all the fun we have through the year. Beaver tails.

Dear Parents, Beavers and Kits,
All Beavers will be receiving there new tails next week. Returnees will exchange their old tail for new and all new Kits will recieve their first tail. The tail colours are given according to age. We will also choose our lodges at that time.

First Night Fun

The leaders report that the first night was an unqualified success and that all the kids had a really great time!!! Our Beavers made wooden name tags as well as playing Beaver bowling. And Cub pack Akela Drew was seen wandering the halls with a moose horn........??? Remember that all groups meet at the regular time next week but all parents are invited to the popcorn kick-off at 6:45.

A new year

Welcome to an exciting year at 1st Marysville. We are looking forward to many exciting activities this year. I have started this website to keep you informed of upcoming activities at 1st Marysville. Any and all ideas will be welcomed. You will also receive emails from the various leaders keeping you up to date on upcoming activities we will be doing.

Planning is already underway and our first meetings will be held on Sept 15th at the regular times

Upcoming events are;


  • Popcorn campaign kick-off at 6:45pm the 22 of Sept. This year there is an awesome new prize program for sellers!!! There will be door prizes and popcorn as well as full info on the popcorn campaign this year. See http://www.scoutpopcorn.ca/ for more details.
  • Beaver and Cub Campover Oct 17th @ Yoho Lake. This will be from Friday evening at 6pm until around 3pm Saturday. We will be in the big lodge and have full facilities, plus lots of good food fun and fellowship. Beavers will need one parent to accompany them and we will have lots of coffee and food for you as well!! Last year we had a blast at the overnighter so plan to attend.
